Therapeutic potential of positive AMPA modulators and their relationship to AMPA receptor subunits.

I'm at work and having trouble finding the motivation to do anything. I'm very happy that my research position is laid back..but at the same I wish there were some deadlines or definite goals. I need some direction, or maybe a slave driver to crack the whip.

sweet Sixteen

I've been watching the sweet sixteen marathon for the past couple couple of hours and it got me thinking....What do I want to do for my sweet sixteen party? I was thinking about a circus theme. Complete with monkeys, elephants, and many many clowns.

Not much has been going on since my last journal entry. Anyways, I can't wait until next weekend.

Thats all for now.

Nothing new here, same everything. Im sooo bored! So apparently you need to already have job experience to get a job. I hate jobs. I might look into being a science tutor. They make pretty good money and the demand is relatively high for science tutors. I need to go back to school.....

Dear Mr. Bush,

I must get a job! Lately I haven't been doing much. I graduated this december (technically I wont graduate until May because of a departmental screw up) and since then I have accomplished little. I've vowed to get a job at the Angeles national forest. I want to be a park ranger or something like that, but the forest employee who sets up this kind of stuff is apparently gone until mid Febuary (how convenient). Anyways I've been waiting until this women comes back at which point I might be happily employed in a forest. We'll see how that goes? I've also considered getting a job at Border's. I like reading and the 'Job Openings' sign mocks me everytime I step foot in there (which is every other day at this point). If Im not employed by the end of this month I think I might join the Scientologists, maybe they'll have a job for me.

With all the free time I've attempted to get back in shape. So far so good. I ran today (2.5 miles), built houses for Habitat yesterday, and went on a 10 mile hike last week. Im thinking of kayaking too! As much as I detest weightlifting I might even take that up as well. Professional student sounds good at this point. Anyone want to donate to this worthy humanitarian effort?

On the topic of south african diamond mines....

20 random facts about myself!

I HATE buses. It seems as though I always get stuck behind a bus in traffic…especially in Westwood. I think there are more buses in Westwood than there are cars.

The most precious moments in my life are those when I can zone out and accomplish nothing.

I flush public toilets with my foot. I don’t like to touch the handle with my hand.

I like driving on long empty roads with no traffic.

My dog Reggie…..he’s crazy! One time he urinated on my backpack. In an act of revenge I peed on one of his toys…..he doesn’t play with that toy anymore.

I don’t like artichokes, tomatoes, and eggplant.

I don’t mind spiders too much….except when I find them in my room. That’s my personal space! How would they like it if I plopped down on their web and started watching tv.

I am both a dog and a cat person. I like both equally.

I don’t like elevators. They’re too slow…plus they make people fat and lazy……same for cars…..and fast food….and computers. It’s time I start exercising again.

Speaking politics, I am moderate with a liberal slant. I dislike when people do not consider both sides of an argument.

20 facts. That’s too many facts. I’ll finish the rest later.

The world is spinning right now....I just hit my head.

Ha a new journal entry! Frances insisted that I write a journal entry and thus in order to please her restless soul...here I go...

Not much is happening in my life as of late. I have been enjoying the easy life...eating lots of food, thinking about the world, and considering my place in the universe. I went to Inland Invasion with Fran this weekend. Pros- cool bands such as the arcade fire, beck, madness, 311, and others (though I didn’t get to see Cake which is too bad). Cons- Expensive food, too much sunlight, people that stand in my way and block the stage...that sorta stuff. I enjoyed the experience though and I would definitely go back again next year. Also in my life, interviews for medical schools have started to trickle in. Exciting at first but then the realization sets in that I actually have to travel to all of these schools (lots of money + missed school + interviews = total crap). So far I have received interview invitations from the University of Michigan, Saint Louis University, Mount Sinai, and University of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh must be on crack cause I still haven’t sent in their secondary application with fee and essay but yet they gave me an interview (weird). I'm going to have to make an entire room full of gold to pay all this crap off but whatever. I have enjoyed a relatively easy life with little challenge so I guess I need to work my ass off at some point in my life. Hmmm what else......?

Your brain: 80% interpersonal, 100% visual, 40% verbal, and 180% mathematical!

Congratulations on being 400% smart! Actually, on my test, everyone is. The above score breaks down what kind of thinking you most enjoy doing. A score above 100% means you use that kind of thinking more than average, and a score below 100% means you use it less. It says nothing about how good you are at any one, just how interested you are in each, relatively. A substantial difference in scores between two people means, conclusively, that they are different kinds of thinkers.

Matching Summary: Each of us has different tastes. Still, I offer the following advice, which I think is obvious:

Don't date someone if your interpersonal percentages differ by more than 80%.
Don't be friends with someone if your verbal percentages differ by more than 100%.
Don't have sex with someone if their math percentage is over 200%.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 77% on interpersonal

You scored higher than 76% on visual

You scored higher than 60% on verbal

You scored higher than 90% on mathematical

If you liked my test, send it to your friends!

You Are a New School Democrat

You like partying and politics - and are likely to be young and affluent.

You're less religious, traditional, and uptight than most Democrats.

Smoking pot, homosexuality, and gambling are all okay in your book.

You prefer that the government help people take care of themselves.
